Roles & Permissions

Configure access and organization structure

Set up users, roles, departments, and enabled modules.

Before you begin

Use an account with the appropriate administration access. Identify the actions and record scope a person needs before assigning roles.

Configure access and organization structure

  1. Use Administration to manage users and invitations.

  2. Assign roles and configure their permissions.

  3. Maintain departments, locations, and organization structure.

  4. Review Modules & features and the configuration for the workflows your organization uses.

  5. Use Audit log to inspect recorded administrative activity.

Key concepts & fields

ConceptWhat to know
Users and invitationsManage access to the organization's workspace.
Roles and permissionsDefine which actions people may take; an employee's job title is not a permission assignment.
Organization structureDepartments and locations used to organize the workspace.
Modules & featuresControls for the workflows your organization enables.
Audit log / sensitive accessReview recorded administrative activity. Some private employee and compensation views have additional controls, including PIN verification.

Troubleshooting

A user can open a module but cannot act

Check the specific action permission and record scope, not just module visibility.

A role change does not expose a module

Check both assigned permissions and whether the module is enabled for the organization.
